Job Description
Position Purpose: Responsible for coordination of services and care for children residing in therapeutic foster care homes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Provides individual weekly psychotherapy to adolescents residing in treatment foster homes.
- Coordinates with workers in referring agencies and SRI team members to ensure that children’s physical, medical and therapeutic service needs are appropriately met.
- In conjunction with foster parents, referring agencies, outside providers and child, develops and updates individualized treatment plans and behavior management plans.
- Assists foster parents with in-home implementation of individualized treatment plans and provides crisis intervention as needed.
- As indicated, provides family therapy to adolescents and natural families.
- Coordinates respite care services for foster families.
- Through regular home visits, ensures that all contracted services are being provided by foster parents and that the child is residing in a normalized environment.
- Coordinates monthly full-day recreation activity for youngsters. Keeps apprised of the therapeutic progress of all youngsters in care, complete appropriate documentation and ensures that case records are complete and up-to-date. Provides on-call coverage.
Qualifications: - MSW with 2 years post-graduate experience in child welfare/foster care.
- Current Maryland and DC Licensure(LCSW, LICSW required)
- Comprehensive working knowledge in the areas of child or adolescent therapy, treatment planning, behavior management and human growth and development.
- Experience and knowledge in the areas of child victimization, offender treatment, crisis intervention and behavior management.
- Experience in individual, group and family therapy.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal/conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstration of cross cultural competencies.
- Willingness to lead and advocate in the best interest of the adolescent.
- An attitude compatible with the goals and purposes of the National Center for Children and Families.
Physical Demands/Work Environment: While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required y this job require close vision working with a computer monitor. While performing the duties of this job, employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. While performing the responsibilities of the employee’s job, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the employee will encounter. Salary: $75,000 - $80,000
